MSG warning! By May 20171st review3 weeks into opening, new restaurant specializing in southern Chinese and Szechuan foods. Everything is good except freshness for some of the seafood. It has a convenient location and ample parking spaces. They also serve dimsum daily and it is quite good. Prices are very competitive. Revisited May 2017, service remain good with new and clean place but we could taste excessive MSG in the food. No choice but downgrade to 3 stars.
At lot more stylish than the previous china bowl, utilizies diner style seats so it seats less people but at least the food is the same
Pretty good Dimsum place. Tasty and inexpensive... Service was good... The Barbecue kitchen food is top-notch... Parking space is the only thing I criticized..
Good decor, good dim sum selection.
Is kind of unfair to rate it 3 stars, since I am from New York, lots of Chinese good food over there. Service is good. Just food can be better.
First time back after a few years hiatus. It's been redone and updated. Good authentic food. I will be back.
We had lunch here today. food tastes great and quantity is just fine. I gave it a five starts rating.
The food is great.Howevery the waiter/waitress is too busy during the noon, the service is not as good as its food. You need to wait for minutes to call them and some of them often ignore you. -1 star
I've eaten here once. Tried my standard Cantonese dishes and they were as good as the higher end restaurants in Flushing and Chinatown.
This is the second time and my boyfriend and I decided to come often cuz it's very comfortable to be here. Food is above average and it's close to our house. It's a combination of Szechuan and Canto taste. Price is okay
very over priced. charged me $29 for a fried flounder! they rip you off!FYI Wonder Seafood charges $16 for dinner.
Formerly known as the great China Bowl, yet the restaurant has new management, thus becoming Chuan Yue Palace. The staff is still the original China Bowl staff for years, being a family-owned business for nearly 20+ years till the recent management change. The quality of service is mediocre, however. There is seemingly less staff to compensate for the number of seats/tables. Nonetheless, the food is cooked well, absolutely impeccable, and flawless in terms of authentic Chinese food (via the Chinese menu and dim sum, that is). The taste is slightly different from the original China Bowl; yet, overall the food is still rather delectable. The food is not as oily, too. The quality of the surroundings or environment is a rather great ambiance for family and friends to come together with excellent food. Portion size is great for the price, despite the fact the prices will begin to climb over the months. Highly recommended for Chinese food order and/or dim sum
Nice restaurant, clean and a lot of room. I still the food taste should be better
This restaurant is fantastic . Great for groups, great for couples, and they have multiple dedicated event spaces for partys . Food is good and authentic, they serve 3 different styles of Chinese food and three kitchens one for each style. My date was able to order in Chinese and I was able to order in English if I needed to. They were able to handle our 40+ person event very well.
Food is OK. Service is D, ecen for a Chinese restaurant. The place is so busy that staff were not exactly friendly. They ran out of dim sum before the cart reached our table. We kept having to go to the cart to intercept them or we wouldn't get anythin.
Food is pretty good but on the pricey side for dim sum. Walnut shrimp is too dry.
It was fairly crowded on a Sat night. Got dishes from both regional menus. I felt they did a better job with the hit dish but the BBQ was decent. The Wonton noodle dish was s bit stale but the beef noodle was done just right.
It was for a work Chinese New year party. Our Chinese co-workers selected our dishes served family style. Some actual Chinese food and American Chinese mix. The pork with cumin was especially good. This is full service restaurant. Moderate price.
The roast pig is outstanding. The dim sum is somewhat hit or miss depending on the dish. For example, the shrimp siu mai is very good but the skin of the shrimp har gao needs refinement. Also, the flavor of the soy dipping sauce needs work and the steamed spare ribs, while meaty, needs to have more black beans incorporated. The decor is bright and airy, a nice environment to enjoy a meal.
Wish I could rate this higher. Food is solid and dimsum was pretty good. 4.5 for food.Service was dismal unless you sit in a central location or are there during lunch rush (which one tends to avoid). If you sit near the corner after 1:30pm, don't expect any carts to roll around. Look, I'm not looking for 5 star service but when bad service prevents you from actually getting food, the whole meal suffers.I've been here twice and from both experiences, I can't fully recommend this place unless you're willing to deal with long waits during meal rush, or stay long enough to get everything you want.
We just had takeout dim sum there. Where to start. The rice in lotus leaf is under cooked. The cungfun was hard and crusty on the outside. The beef ball had to taste and was not soft or tender at all. We order pan fried dumplings and it burned a hole on the container. The ribs seem like they boiled it than steamed it. Just plan disappointing.
Becareful the waitress try to promote some dishes, they are unexpected expensive, and I asked a certain dimsum and brought me another, I said they are different and the lady said: “what is the different between them?â€
This restaurant replaced the previous China Bowl. Given that the address not a lot of Dim Sum place in Edison and Woodbridge area, it is hard to be picky. The dim sum is surprising good. There are a lot more choices and do taste better too. The dinner is selection is good too and very much the same as China Bowl. I can't comment on the service yet because there's place has been busy twice we visited - will update once we visited enough.
Foods was tasty but have to drink a lot of water to neutralize the chemical they put in the dishes. It is not healthy and even new and nice setup. Will not go back.
food was cold, it was hot inside without any air conditioning. roast pork was terrible, seems like left overs. would not come again.
Nice environment, i always order the fried duck.
I would say the food here is good, and the plate is big so you can definitely full up there. However, the price then will be a little higher. On average, if I go to there, the average cost for each of us is around 25 dollars. Compared to fast food which is less than 10 dollars , 25 is definitely not cheap. But the food is much more better, and you probably need to pack the remaining food. So I guess that count for two meals.
If you like spicy food, it place is a good choice
